A Historic Shift: What the First PSLE Paper 1 Change in 15 Years Means for Your Child

THEY DID IT! Super proud of all the P6 kids who rode the wave this year. The exam board meant it when they talked about change and we saw it in Paper 1 🤯 Refreshing change which makes preparation for the next PSLE even more exciting. Can’t wait for the horse babies’ turn next year.
The recent Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) has sent a clear message: change is not just coming, it’s already here. For the first time in 15 years, the English Paper 1 has been significantly updated, marking a historic moment in Singapore’s education landscape.
This year’s P6 cohort was the first to face these changes, particularly in the Writing component. The exam board’s deliberate shift away from rote memorisation and towards a more nuanced assessment of critical thinking and creativity was evident. While students were well-prepared to ride this wave of change, the refreshed approach to the paper has been a welcome and exciting development.
A New Chapter for PSLE
This isn’t just about a change in a single paper; it’s a reflection of a broader, more holistic approach to education. The PSLE is evolving, and with it, the way students are taught and prepared must evolve too.
We are immensely proud of our P6 students who demonstrated incredible resilience and adaptability. Their success is a testament to their hard work and a positive sign for the future. We’re already looking forward to preparing the next generation of students for this exciting new chapter.
