Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This workshop is designed for Primary 3 and Primary 4 students who need support in composition writing, particularly if they struggle with generating ideas, structuring their stories, or writing with sufficient detail and expression.

The workshop targets common issues such as:

  • Weak or unengaging story openings
  • Repetitive or underdeveloped paragraphs
  • Short compositions due to lack of ideas
  • Poor organisation of story flow
  • Limited vocabulary and expression

If your child’s compositions feel “flat” or rushed, this workshop is built to tackle exactly that.

The workshop runs for two days, with each session lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes, which includes a 15-minute break.

The class size is kept small with a maximum of 6 students to ensure a focused and personalised learning environment.

Your child will learn both structure and technique, which is critical.

On structure:

  • A clear 5-paragraph story framework
  • How to build suspense and craft a strong climax
  • How to write engaging openings using different approaches

On writing techniques:

  • How to show emotions effectively using the PIOA framework
  • How to use stronger verbs and descriptive language
  • How to write meaningful conclusions using the FAST framework

This is not just theory. Students practise applying these techniques during the workshop.

The workshop runs over 2 days, with 3 hours 15 minutes per day, including a short break.

Lessons are conducted in a small group setting (maximum 6 students) to ensure:

  • Close guidance
  • Immediate feedback
  • Active participation

Two key differences:

First, it is highly focused. Instead of covering many topics, it goes deep into composition writing.

Second, it is application-driven. Students:

  • Analyse model compositions
  • Identify and correct errors
  • Practise techniques step by step

The “restaurant-themed” experience is designed to make learning structured and memorable, not just entertaining.

Two days alone will not transform a child into an expert writer. However, what this workshop does well is:

  • Give your child a clear structure to follow
  • Equip them with practical techniques they can immediately use
  • Build awareness of what good writing looks like

The real improvement comes when these strategies are consistently applied after the workshop.

Yes. Students will study 2 detailed model compositions and work through guided practices. They will also leave with strategies they can continue using in school.

With a maximum of 6 students per class, your child will receive close guidance, especially during:

  • Writing practice
  • Error analysis
  • Feedback discussions

Yes, if the student wants to:

  • Write more vivid and engaging compositions
  • Strengthen storytelling techniques
  • Move beyond basic writing into more expressive work

Even stronger students often lack structure or depth, which this workshop addresses.

No preparation is required. However, it would help if your child:

  • Comes ready to participate actively
  • Is open to trying new writing approaches
