MOE school holidays 2027

MOE School Holidays 2027: Important Dates Singapore Parents Should Know

Planning for the new school year becomes much easier when you know the key dates in advance.

The Ministry of Education has released the school calendar for 2027, including the start and end of the academic year, term breaks, scheduled school holidays, and separate reporting dates for students at different levels.

For parents, these dates are useful for planning family holidays, childcare arrangements, enrichment programmes, tuition schedules, and annual leave.

Here is a complete guide to the MOE school holidays in 2027.

When does the 2027 school year begin?

The 2027 school year for MOE kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools will begin on Monday, 4 January 2027.

However, students will not all report to school on the same day.

Kindergarten 1 and Primary 1 students will start school on 4 January 2027.

Kindergarten 2 and Primary 2 to Primary 6 students will report to school one day later, on Tuesday, 5 January 2027.

The staggered start gives younger children entering a new school environment more time to settle in.

When does the 2027 school year end?

For most MOE kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools, the school year will end on Friday, 19 November 2027.

The year-end school holidays will begin the following day, on Saturday, 20 November 2027.

Some secondary schools will end the final term earlier.

Schools being used as venues for the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education written examinations will end their final school term on Friday, 29 October 2027.

Parents should check their child’s school calendar and official school notices for any school-specific arrangements.

How parents can plan around the 2027 school holidays

Having the school calendar early gives families more time to organise the year.

Book family holidays early

The June and year-end holidays are popular travel periods for Singapore families.

Airfares, hotel rates, and attraction tickets may increase as the dates approach, so early bookings can provide more choices and potentially lower prices.

Coordinate annual leave

Working parents may want to compare the school calendar with Singapore’s public holidays and their company leave policies.

Several scheduled school holidays in 2027 fall near weekends or public holidays, making them useful for short family breaks.

Arrange childcare in advance

Student care centres, holiday camps, and enrichment programmes may fill up quickly during the school holidays.

Parents who require childcare support should check programme schedules and availability early.

Balance learning with rest

School holidays do not need to be filled entirely with tuition and academic activities.

Children also benefit from rest, play, outdoor activities, hobbies, and unstructured family time.

A balanced holiday schedule can help them return to school feeling refreshed and motivated.

Check your child’s school notices

The MOE calendar provides the national schedule, but individual schools may organise orientation programmes, examination briefings, co-curricular activities, or other events on additional dates.

Parents should continue to monitor official notices from their child’s school.
