At the crossroads of graduation, she entered the field of education to pursue her passion for working with children, with the hopes of empowering young hearts and minds to express themselves. An advocate of mental health and emotional intelligence, Ms Tan believes in equipping students with the skills and tools in speech and writing to communicate with clarity and flair. She takes pride in helping her students develop confidence and resilience.
Ms Tan is an avid collector of children’s picture books and enjoys going to see movies, theatre shows, and exhibitions with her son.

What is it like working at LBM?
We focus on progress over perfection and there is a nurturing atmosphere for staff and students alike.
Why do you love teaching English?
Teaching English gives me the opportunity to help children discover the gift of reading and develop their own love for reading.
What inspires you to teach?
I care about the mental health of children, and I hope they will become confident and resilient when they can read, speak, and write well.
What do you do in your free time?
I read a three books a week and curate a bookshelf at Casual Poet Library. I enjoy being with my favourite child—my son—in my favourite place—home!
