Ms Belle Lim
Specialist English Teacher
Ms Belle Lim was educated at the University of Queensland and cut her teeth at magazine publishing with Singapore Airlines’ former Young Explorer Club’s magazine for its young members. This experience ignited her passion for writing, editing and stood her in good stead when she decided to move on to pursue educational and curriculum publishing.
Ms Belle's Profile
Editing Primary English lesson packages for a local publishing company, Ms Belle has worked with MOE curriculum specialists and teachers in school. She also specialises in teaching children to write creatively and communicate effectively.
With three grown children of her own, Ms Belle has had extensive experience teaching them from cradle to university. Whilst their education had been her top priority previously, she has tutored other children at friends’ request, had been a ghost writer as well as freelance editor.
Here at LBM, she hopes to help children appreciate the nuances of the English language, which is integral to mastering it. As a teacher, she believes in inspiring all learners, driving to always cultivate curiosity. She believes that learning English is a continual process that never stops, not even at the highest level.
Ms Belle's Teacher Spotlight
What is it like working at LBM?
Since joining LBM, it has been nothing short of joyful. Having worked with publishers, authors, even teachers and students previously as an editor in educational publishing, the integrity of the materials has matched beyond my expectations of how the language should be taught and that is enough for me.
What inspires you to teach?
I enjoy interacting with tweens, teenagers and children. I’m always surprised by how much I’m learning from them every day. Their ideas, attitudes and their mindsets remind me to keep an open mind even though I’m supposed to be their teacher in a class. Providing different perspectives is what I hope most that my students will take away with in learning and in life.
Why do you love teaching English?
Language is the basis of all that we learn and live. English is just that little more special because it is the medium of instruction most utilised and a form of communication that is integral to achieving goals. More than this, it is a wonderful way to enrich ourselves academically and culturally.
What do you do in your free time?
I cook, read and practise calligraphy, both Western and Chinese.
