Reviews for Teacher Joei
Joei Ong is an English Teacher at Lil’ but Mighty. She graduated from Nanyang Technological University and has a minor in Early Childhood Education. Throughout her 4 years in university, she has been teaching English from K1 to P6 as a private tuition teacher, and currently joined Lil’ but Mighty to further develop her skills as an English tutor.
Ms Joei had volunteered her time to teach basic English and Grammar to orphaned children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia when she was in Junior College. This life-changing and self-fulfilling experience made her discover her interest in teaching.
As a teacher, she believes that all children have the potential to do well, and different children would require different approaches to unlock their true potential. Ms Joei hopes to discover the suitable approaches for her students so that she can bring out the best in them!
What is it like working at LBM?
It is very enjoyable working at LBM. All my colleagues are extremely friendly and helpful, and they won’t hesitate to lend a helping hand in times of need.
What inspires you to teach?
Seeing the joy on my students’ faces after they have understood a concept, and the interactions that I have with my students during lessons. I love to see them improve and do better, and I am extremely proud of them when they are able to grasp a concept and apply it.
Why do you love teaching English?
I love to teach English because it has many different components, such as grammar – which follows rules, to creative writing where you can let your thoughts flow freely. Personally, I enjoy English as a subject since young as I always love to read.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to play games on my Nintendo Switch with my friends. I own a collection of Switch games and my favourite is Animal Crossing. I also enjoy crafting using resin and polymer clay and can spend hours late into the night to create my product.
