We decided on LBM because we were attracted to the small class size, which we feel benefits our son best. Our son has been with LBM Marine Parade for about 6 months, and it has been a positive experience so far. Ms Syazza is patient and encouraging, and genuinely is invested in helping our son improve. We like LBM’s effective techniques and strategies that help my son tackle the different components of English, and their materials are quite comprehensive and solid as well. Do try out their trial session and speak with the teachers first - doing so gave us the assurance that LBM will be a good choice for my son.

Syazza's Teacher Spotlight

To Ms Syazza, communication is the essence of being human and the human experience. This is her motivation to teach English and she enjoys guiding her students in exploring the multi-faceted use of the English language for expression and effective communication.

She looks forward to providing students with clear methods to hone the technicalities in the language, as well as giving them a more interesting perspective to the use of vocabulary. This comes in the form of little snippets about the history of the word, context of use, or even other languages in which an English word can exist.

By sparking in students a curious interest in the English Language, Ms Syazza hopes to open the doors of learning and opportunity for them. With the aim to foster their effective communication and critical thinking skills, she is eager to see them gain confidence through precise English, unlocking their potential to flourish and navigate life’s journey with assurance.

What inspires you to teach?

I trace my love of teaching back to my mother, who was a remarkable educator for my sisters and me. Now, my students are my greatest inspiration. I find that authentic and engaging interactions in the classroom allow us all to learn – myself included. Seeing my students find joy in learning and discovering themselves at the same time is very rewarding to me. It inspires me to never stop being curious. My students consistently offer fresh and often humorous perspectives, enriching my understanding.

Why do you love teaching English?

I love teaching English because I love seeing how students express their thoughts through words. To me, English is colourful and diverse. Teaching also brings me great fulfilment as not only can I grow my students academically but also in their values. It is my belief that good character is always more important than good grades, though I strive to help my students see that both are attainable.

Teacher Syazza's Story

What do you do in your free time?

There are three things I love to do in my free time: cook, read and dream about opening an animal sanctuary. Animals are so special to me and I wished that we could speak a common language! I have two cats and they are a joy. I also spend time in the gym because being fit and healthy allows me to keep up with my students both mentally and physically. I express love and gratitude through cooking. I enjoy speaking about books, food, books about food, pets and gym routines – a unique combination that helps me to be a positive and energetic teacher in class. I hope to learn what my students love to do in their free time too!
