Reviews for Teacher Mages
Hello! I am teacher Mages. I have graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a Law degree and I went ahead to fulfil my passion for teaching by joining the NIE. I graduated with a Specialist diploma in teaching and learning for Allied Educators (Secondary). I have aced some of the subjects we were trained in, especially, teaching of English; classroom management and motivation; and supporting diverse learners. Since then, I have been teaching both primary and secondary level English.
How to achieve good grades is the most frequently asked question. I have heard someone say ‘Don’t run after success but pursue excellence and success will come chasing you ‘. Thus, hours of work spent on a particular subject may not necessarily guarantee success. With proper guidance and coaching, excellence can be achieved leading to success.
A good time-table and discipline are the basic requirements. I believe that quality of work
matters more than quantity. I normally teach my students the strategies needed for the different components of the paper and we practise to improve our skills and knowledge attained. My advice for my students is persevere and never give up on yourself or the subject. It may be a long and bumpy road but you must reach your destination. As a teacher, I hope to provide the support you need on this journey. I look forward to seeing you soon!
What is it like working at LBM?
L’il but Mighty is an organisation that creates a warm working environment. Help and guidance are just a text away. I believe that the curriculum and the notes prepared help our students to understand and achieve better grades. Thus, imparting knowledge gives satisfaction.
What inspires you to teach?
It is a common belief that passion is very important to keep one inspired and stay committed. This is true to me as well as I am devoted to this profession and does not shy away from the challenges faced. I am greatly inspired by teachers who possess a great deal of patience and love.
Why do you love teaching English?
A question which students often receive is : “What is there to learn for English?” However, not all students score the best marks, and in some cases, students perform so poorly that they are even retained at that level. To me, teaching English helps to equip the students with the appropriate strategies for the different sections of the English paper. Since English is an examinable subject and determines the pass or fail in the overall results, the love for the subject can enhance the learning. This helps to improve the grades as well. I love teaching English as my students enjoy learning English, and I look forward to more engaging and fun-filled lessons with them.
What do you do in your free time?
A very interesting question! I spend most of my self-proclaimed free time with my family. Going to the movies and taking short trips are my favourite things to do. Some relaxation and enjoyment ensures the balance in my lifestyle.
