Specialist English Teacher
Having graduated with a B.A. in International Relations and Sociology and a Grad Dip. in Education, Mr Chew has working experience in the corporate sector before switching to teaching as his next career path. He not only taught the MOE curriculum in school but also extended his teaching experience to the special needs reading programme.

Since leaving the service, Mr Chew has moved on to work with various enrichment centres. In recent years, he has focused most of his teaching in English and Creative Writing, hoping to deepen his understanding in the English subject and in turn create interesting lessons for his students.
As a teacher, he believes in teaching and equipping students with the right skills so that they can become self-directed learners and make improvements in their studies. Constantly encouraging and motivating his students, Mr Chew also sees the importance of providing regular feedback to them so that they can continue to make progress in their learning.
What is it like working at LBM?
The staff at LBM are very friendly and they do their best to help the teachers with their query and issues. Although I’ve taught for many years, I’m learning something new in LBM all the time. It’s a very encouraging and supportive environment to work in.
What inspires you to teach?
I enjoy helping children to learn and grow into the best version of themselves. On my first day of teaching, a teacher told me to always remember to teach my students as if they are my own, so that I will remember to teach them in the best way that I know.
Why do you love teaching English?
English is our main learning medium in Singapore. I enjoy teaching them the language so that they can communicate better and write better compositions. It is interesting to see a student’s progress based on what has been taught over time.
Why do you do in your free time?
I love to take morning walks to enjoy some quietness and me-time. I also love to swim and read whenever I can.
