Ms Chaneline is an English Language teacher at Lil’ but Mighty. She has a Juris Doctor Law Degree from Singapore Management University. Shortly after completing her legal studies in 2017, she decided to pursue her true calling: being an educator. She has not looked back since.
Apart from her law degree, Ms Chaneline also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Studies from Nanyang Technological University. Effectively bilingual since her school days, she believes in the importance of building a solid language foundation from a young age. This conviction has led her to become a teacher at various enrichment centres, where she taught Speech & Drama, Phonics, whole-brain training, as well as the English language to students aged 1-12.
Ms Chaneline is warm, patient and approachable. She strives to create a safe classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions. In addition to building rapport with her students, she also believes that forging positive relationships with parents is an essential part of her teaching.
As an experienced educator, Ms Chaneline is able to explain concepts in ways that students can internalise more easily. Above all, she hopes to help her students develop not only a stronger command of the English language, but also the confidence to express themselves through the language.
What inspires you to teach?
During my primary school days, I had a tutor who taught me the Chinese Language. She not only made me learn the language; she made me fall in love with the language. If I can become someone like her – someone who inspires young minds to embrace a language – I will feel so fulfilled and satisfied!
Why do you love teaching English?
English is a fascinating subject! It’s somewhat similar to Law, in that there are rules – and there are also exceptions to the rules. I feel a sense of accomplishment when my students are able to grasp the concepts and apply them in their daily lives.
What do you do in your free time?
Drama addict here! I love watching Japanese and Korean dramas. I’m also an avid reader of mystery fiction. I can play the drums and I’m currently learning to play the bass guitar!
