Ms Yvonne began her teaching career in the public education sector after graduating from Nanyang Technological University in 2015, where she majored in Psychology. Driven by a strong passion for education and belief in the importance of guiding young learners, she went on to attain a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education. Beyond her experience in public schools, she has also worked in private educational settings and the non-profit sector, allowing her to engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
Through her years of teaching English at both the primary and secondary levels, she believes in guiding every child to achieve his or her personal potential. She strives to create a safe and positive classroom environment, where students feel comfortable learning and expressing their ideas respectfully. By seeking to understand each student’s learning needs, she hopes to support them in strengthening their foundations and working through areas of difficulty.
As Ms Yvonne cares deeply about language learning, she hopes to help students grow into confident and competent learners. She believes that learning English is a continuous process, and she is eager to see what her students are capable of achieving, both within and beyond the classroom.
What inspires you to teach?
I find it meaningful to support students in their learning and growth. Seeing them gradually discover their potential and overcome challenges motivates me to continue growing as a teacher. At the same time, I am inspired by the curiosity and perspectives that these bright young minds bring. Every child is unique, and every classroom presents an opportunity to foster purposeful learning.
Why do you love teaching English?
I love the versatility of the English language and believe that language is empowering. It gives students a voice, enabling them to express their thoughts clearly, think critically, and interact meaningfully with others. Teaching English also allows for a balance between creativity and structure, as ideas can be explored alongside the development of language skills.
What do you do in your free time?
I enjoy grabbing a good cup of coffee and heading out for a walk or a jog, which helps me unwind and stay energised. I appreciate simple moments to recharge, explore different places, and enjoy some peaceful time outdoors.
