Ms Ng's Profile

Velvet

Deciding to do a switch to the private sector, Ms Ng taught and wrote lesson packages for an enrichment centre for three years. Joining Lil’ but Mighty is the most recent part of her journey in honing her craft as a specialist teacher.

As a teacher, she believes in sharing her love for reading to her students and encouraging them to be confident speakers. Therefore, she incorporates lively discussions on meaningful topics in her lessons to impart knowledge to her students. She believes that in order to do well, one needs to be interested in learning, so she ensures that her lessons are meaningful and thought-provoking so that students can learn earnestly.

Ms Ng has undergone our in-house Movers and Shakers Teacher Training Programme.

What is it like working at LBM?
Working at LBM has been very fun and meaningful. I see myself as a better teacher than before, having worked here for 3 years. I love children, and I think this is my calling.

What inspires you to teach?
Teaching is not just a job to me. It is a way of helping others and helping young children to improve themselves continually.

Why do you love teaching English?
I have loved studying Literature and History when I was at university. That’s also when I fell in love with English as a subject. Teaching English also allows me to teach about societal issues, world issues and share my love for reading. Additionally, I get to share about stories and poetry I love. What’s there not to love?

What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to go and practise Brazilian Jiu jitsu to keep fit. I also go to a climbing gym and do bouldering, sometimes with my family. Both sports are a kind of purposeful play to me and they help me to trust myself and my body more.
