Reflecting on the academic journey of 2023, it brings me immense pleasure to share the remarkable progress and achievements our students have accomplished. 5 out of every 6 students achieved a quality pass in the PSLE and more than half of our cohort experienced a grade jump from when they first joined us. The commendable results and notable progress would not have been possible without the students’ consistent efforts and the guidance of our dedicated educators. As we move forward, Lil’ but Mighty will continue to work hand in hand with parents, to nurture and support our students in their academic pursuits and personal growth.

Beyond examinations, we have also embarked on a series of inaugural events in 2023 that have been met with positive response, both among our own students and the wider public. We are heartened by the  participation and I am pleased to announce that you can look forward to more of such events this year. At the same time, our dedicated curriculum team has been meticulously working on ways to enrich our students’ learning experiences. In this new academic year, do keep an eye out for new workshops, refreshment of our existing workshops as well as more free webinars coming your way!

Lil’ but Mighty’s commitment to providing a robust educational experience remains unwavering. The cornerstone of our approach is not solely academic achievement, but the holistic development of each and every individual student through English that Makes You Happy.

In alignment with our core values, our curriculum continues to evolve, ensuring that it remains dynamic, engaging and relevant to schools and examination trends. Additionally, we believe in equipping our students with not just the knowledge to tackle the examinations confidently but also the skills and mindset necessary to thrive in the 21st century.

I invite you to stay engaged with us and attend our upcoming events as we do our utmost to support each child in his or her learning journey. Should you have any questions, ideas, or simply want to share a success story, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Here’s to a year filled with curiosity, growth and boundless possibilities!

Warm regards,
Delia Siow

Letter from our Secondary Curriculum Lead

Dear Parents, Students, and Educators,

2023 was an exciting year for us in many ways: we saw our first batch of secondary school students — who joined us in 2021 — complete their Secondary Three year with us, we’ve seen the first O Level English Language paper implement the new assessment format and what we can expect to see moving forward, we’ve had new teachers join our wonderful team here at Wordstruck, and many other noteworthy events that took place throughout the course of the year for which we are ever so grateful to have experienced and to have been a part of.

As the Head of our secondary school programme, and on behalf of my team, I am delighted to share with you the progress that we have made in our curriculum, and the things that we are excited to see take place as we approach a new academic year, and welcome our students back to school.

As our Secondary Three students in 2023 move on to their final year with us — whether they joined us in 2021 or more recently — we are proud to have been there with them on their English Language learning journey, and look forward to being there for them again in the last stretch as they prepare for the O Level English paper at the end of 2024.

2024 will mark the first year in which our programme will have full cohorts of Secondary One to Secondary Four students. My team and I feel immense pride to have been a part of and to have witnessed the development of our secondary school curriculum over the last three years. Our curriculum continues to grow and evolve. While we are committed to ensuring that our curriculum stays up-to-date and aligned to the standards set at the O Level and the examinations our students will sit for in schools, we are equally committed to ensuring that our curriculum remains dedicated to the holistic development of our students.

As our programme continues to grow and develop, our curriculum team continues its endeavour to provide the best learning experience to our students, and to students in the public as well who do not already attend regular lessons with us here at Wordstruck. To that end, I am thrilled to announce that there will be more free webinars coming your way, and the launch of a completely new workshop planned for the Upper Secondary students. So do be on the lookout for these in 2024!

To our wonderful students, we look forward to seeing you again, and having yet another year of fruitful and enriching lessons with you. To our dedicated parents, we invite you to continue to stay engaged with us as we work together to support each child on his or her learning journey. And to my dearest colleagues and fellow teachers, without whom this would not be possible, I express my sincerest thanks and gratitude for all the effort and dedication you have shown, and I look forward to another great year ahead as we work together to ensure the success of Wordstruck.

Yours faithfully,
Mr Ng Guo Liang

Letter from our Training Team Lead

Dear Parents, Students, and Educators,

We hope that you have had a restful and rejuvenating break. 2023 has been a year of growth and change as the training team implemented programmes that shaped the professional journeys of our teachers. As the Training Team Lead, I am delighted to share with you the progress and effort made to enhance the teacher training programme as well as our continuous commitment to maintaining a pool of quality teachers to guide our students in their learning journey with us.

Training Programmes
In 2023, we have designed a more comprehensive teacher training programme for our current teachers, beginning teachers and new staff who just joined the company. The training sessions covered diverse topics such as orientation for the new year, technology integration, classroom and student management.

We also ended the year with a mental health awareness workshop whereby teachers had the opportunity to learn more about mental health, destress and bond with one another. The range of training initiatives undertaken have been instrumental in not only enhancing teaching methodologies but also fostering professional development.

In addition, we experimented with novel training initiatives such as using the FLIP method. This was well-received by our teachers and the training team endeavours to explore various methods to make our training sessions a more fun and engaging experience for our staff.

Classroom Observations
A pivotal component of the training involved classroom observations, providing opportunities for peer learning and constructive feedback. Through these observations, our teachers are able to showcase their implementation of acquired strategies. At the end of each observation session, our trainers dedicate time to share lesson observation notes with the teachers to help standardise the processes in LBM and bridge any gaps that have been discovered during lesson delivery. It is our belief that these sessions will help our teachers to grow and improve, leading to an enriched educational experience for our students.

The impact of our training sessions and classroom observations has been palpable. Our teachers have exhibited increased confidence in implementing innovative pedagogies, resulting in heightened student engagement and participation.

In 2024, we are excited to build on the successes of our current training programs. Future initiatives will focus on sustained professional development, further refining teaching strategies to continually enhance the quality of education provided, and exploring emerging educational trends. The training team hopes to continue to play a part in our teachers’ continuous growth in order to foster a stronger, more skilled, and resilient team of teachers. I look forward to another great year of learning with everyone.

Yours sincerely,
Ms Celina Seah
